Once
a lanky
boy, I
hung
from
a tree,
cherries
shining
w/ love.

Inheritance
Like my mother
I learned to cry
in a car, behind
a wheel, a child
in the back seat
singing along –
songs we learn
to forget, but I
refuse to follow
the ones, notes
blue and yellow,
green or red, who
believe in horizon,
a boundary of tears.

Happy Hour
He recalls a dog, long dead,
as he pounds another Coors,
themed birthdays of smiling
sharks, knowing at the age
of two (wrapped || unwrapped)
wounds open to the neon glow
